WE ARE EMPOWERING COMMUNITIES TO ACHIEVE SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC JUSTICE
The economic development program provides training for vulnerable communities so they can lift themselves out of poverty and be able to sustain their families . Generally, the program focus on women and girls who have been affected by gender-based violence and other forms of social injustice. In addidition to education and mentorship, we provide small cash grants (most of our beneficiaries come from rural areas and they live below $1.25 a day, we can’t give them loans but after the business training, we give them a small capital seed that can be turned into a small business) that will allow them launch sustanable and profitable income generating activities in the community.
The US Embassy in Bujumbura-Burundi was the first donor to award a start-up grant to Dreaming for Change to provide social and economic support for the less advantaged, especially rural women and their families. D4C aspires a community, a country, a noation that can lift itself out of poverty and be able to survive and thrive.
OUR ASPIRATIONAL GOALS ARE:
To build a women's economic empowerment center
The center will not only provide source of income and economic empowerment, but will offer a safe space for rural women and girls who have been affected by gender-based violence and any forms of social injustice, to talk about their own development
Rural women microfinance
Rural women microfinance services will create a significant changes in the livelihoods of rural women and girls. The microfinance will provide women and girls the opportunity to save, borrow or engage in other financial activities.
