Agriculture is the solution to hunger

About 90% of the population in Burundi depends on agriculture for a living. Agriculture is practiced widely across the country but adequate efforts to restore the fertility of a particular tract of land are not undertaken. Unscientific agricultural methods, inadequate rainfall, poor quality of fertilizers, shortened fallow periods have all contributed to turn arable lands barren.  It’s so sad to see farmers who invested their time and efforts in planting crops but at the end of the day they produce less and become malnourished due to the lack of resources, technology and knowledge and the use of traditional agricultural practices associated with subsistence farming.

The overall objective of this program is to reduce poverty, fight malnutrition and food insecurity crisis among household farmers in rural Burundi by providing modern agricultural techniques based on growing nutritious food and protecting the soil. We believe that well-fed people create stable communities, perform well in schools and take advantage of the opportunities to end the poverty in their households

Dreaming for Change equips impoverished farmers and families with the skills, tools and seeds to produce life-sustaining crops through agricultural innovations.
