Dreaming for Change is raising money to build a four classroom preschool in rural Butanuka, Burundi. We have successfully Phase 1 and are finishing Phase 2 in April.
The Phase 3: We are now ready for the preschool to have a permanent home. The computer renditions show four spacious classrooms in two modules that fit beautifully on the land owned by Dreaming for Change. The teachers for all four classrooms are prepared to welcome children to the new space.

The feeding program in Butanaka, Bubanza Province, Burundi serves a nutritional porridge to more than 400 malnourished children on a weekly schedule.
Here are some facts from USAID: In Burundi, 56% of children under five suffer from stunting and 5% from wasting. In rural areas, stunting can be as high as 66%. The infant mortality rate is 58.8 per thousand (one of the highest worldwide). When the program began, there were children who were unable to stand or walk, children who looked like old people due to malnutrition, and children who were too weak to smile or play. After several months of one healthy meal a day, some of those symptoms are turning around.

The Rural Girls’ Scholarship Program targets high school girls at risk of dropping out.
The program supports girls in four ways:
– Paying school fees directly to the principal of each girl’s school
– Providing copy books, pens, school bags, and uniforms
– Providing sanitary pads and education on menstrual hygiene
– Providing mentorship to encourage girls and build their self confidence
